Organic Guar Gum is an off-white flour-like powder with an earthy odour. Organic guar gum is used as a thickener in gluten free baking and cooking to bind, condense and emulsify gluten-free ingredients. Guar gum can also be used as a fibre supplement as a source of soluble fibre.
How to use
Only a very small quantity of guar gum is needed for thickening to create a 'sticky' quality. If too much is used, baking tends to become heavy and stringy in texture.
Guar gum can be used in gravies, sauces and soups in place of flour as a thickening agent.
For gluten free baking including cakes, muffins, bread, cookies and pizza dough recipes: Add 1/2 tsp organic guar gum per one cup of gluten free flour used.
Growing and Processing
Organic guar gum is made by grinding the seeds of dried guar beans. The guar seeds are dehusked, milled and screen to produce an off-white coloured flour-like powder.
